History

A succession of previous owners dates Sea Breeze back to the late 1930's. Bill and Evelyn Fowler owned it as Sea Breeze Guest Farm for 20 years until selling it to Brian and Gail Bishop in 1972. Guests would help milk the cows, collect hay and eggs and assist with various farming chores. Evelyn prepared the meals, whose recipes are still used today, while Bill entertained the guests with his witty humour and various musical instruments. Brian and Gail Bishop, previous guests themselves, have owned the lodge for over 32 years now but daily operations of the resort have now been passed along to their three sons, Jeffrey, Stephen and Michael, and their families.

Many changes have taken place over the years. Originally the cottages had no running water or power and provided very rustic accommodation. Today all the cottages have been rebuilt with the convenience of indoor plumbing and electricity, but a TV and telephone are still nonexistent. Despite many renovations, expansions, and the addition of modern amenities, the preservation of the very essence of Sea Breeze remains the same; ensuring guests a unique and memorable West Coast island experience.
